Jeweler crafting a bespoke ring at a workbench.

People often imagine bespoke as something reserved for the impossibly wealthy, or assume it must take a decade and a fortune to get a piece made just for them. In reality, it's simply the most personal way to buy jewellery and once you've seen how it actually comes together, on the bench, it stops feeling mysterious and starts feeling obvious.

The First Conversation

Every bespoke piece starts the same way: with a conversation, not a catalogue. Sometimes someone arrives with a clear idea already in their head, a particular stone, a family heirloom to rework, a photo saved on their phone for years. Just as often, someone arrives with almost nothing beyond a feeling, "something like her mother's ring, but not exactly" and that's just as good a starting point. We'll talk through lifestyle, budget, the story behind the piece, and look at inspiration together. There's never any pressure to commit at this stage; it's simply about understanding what you actually want, which is sometimes a different thing to what you thought you wanted when you walked in.

From Sketch to CAD

Once we've got a clear brief, the design work begins. We'll sketch initial concepts by hand, then move into computer-aided design (CAD) once a direction feels right, this lets us show you a photorealistic, rotatable 3D model of your piece before a single gram of metal is touched, so you can see proportions, stone placement and setting style exactly as they'll look, and ask for changes with no cost to adjusting a digital file. Most pieces go through two or three rounds of revision at this stage, refining details like band width, prong style or stone spacing until it feels completely right.

"Personal, never hurried, that's not a slogan, it's just how long good work actually takes."

The Making

This is the part that happens out of sight for most customers, and it's the part we're proudest of: everything is made in-house, on-site, by our own goldsmiths, not sent away to an outside workshop or overseas factory. Once a design is approved, the piece is either hand-fabricated or cast from the CAD model, then it comes to the bench for the long, patient work of filing, fitting and finishing. Stones are set by hand under magnification, checked and re-checked for security. The whole piece is then polished, cleaned, and given a final quality check before it ever reaches you.

  • Consultation. The initial conversation, budget and inspiration.

  • Design & CAD. Sketches, then a 3D model you can review and refine.

  • Casting or fabrication. The design becomes a physical piece in precious metal.

  • Setting & finishing. Stones are set by hand, then polished and quality-checked.

  • Collection. You see the finished piece in person, for the first time, in-store.

Every Piece Has a Story

What we hear more than anything, once a piece is collected, isn't really about the ring itself, it's relief and surprise at how personal the whole process felt. That's really the entire point of bespoke: not that the ring is more expensive or more elaborate than something off a shelf, but that every decision along the way was actually yours, shaped by people who took the time to understand why it mattered to you in the first place.

If you'd like to see the process in person, our showroom on Burgate is the best place to start, you're welcome to come in, meet the goldsmiths who'll be making your piece, and talk through what's possible with no obligation at all.
